Gannaway returns to the Isle

The Wightlink Raiders are delighted to confirm the return of Raiders legend Steve Gannaway for his 107th (!) season with the team.
The most famous number 3 in the league has put pen to paper to continue a career on the Island that began in the midst of the championship winning team way back in the last century. He has become a pivotal part of the ENL campaign over the last two seasons and apart from one year with the Bracknell Bees has been a Raiders regular for every season since the mid 1990’s.
Speaking about his return player coach Jeremy Cornish says Ganners is part of the furniture at Ryde Arena.
“Ganners has been a massive part of this club for so many years and we’re delighted he’s agreed to do it all over again this year. His experience and reliability have made him such an important member of the team and his presence off the ice is as important as it is on the ice. We’ll be looking to him to help nurture our young team as we strive to retain our league title this season.”
Steve Gannaway’s return means the defensive line up is now complete for the new season. He’ll join netminders Colin McGill and Liam McAllister and defencemen Damon Larter, Dominic Hopkins, Niall Bound and new face Daniel Pye as the last line of defence this year.
