GB Under 20 call-up for Hull duo
Excel Hull Stingrays pair Craig Mitchell and Matty Davies have been named in the Great Britain Under-20 squad for the World Championships in Hungary next month.
GB will open their Division Two Group A campaign in Debrecen against China on December 13 before facing Korea, Spain, Mexico and then the hosts on the final day on December 19.
The duo, part of the U20s side which gained a silver medal in Spain last year, will miss Stingrays’ Elite League games against Nottingham Panthers (home and away) and Cardiff Devils (away).
Mitchell has not looked out of place on defence in his first season in Hull while Davies, in his debut campaign at this level, is Stingrays’ joint-fourth leading point-scorer with three goals and five assists from 21 games.
