Glowa: We have to work this out
Captain Jeff Glowa insists Excel Hull Stingrays must address the error of their ways if they are to turn around their fortunes.
Stingrays iced a full roster for the first time this season at the weekend but suffered back-to-back home defeats as they lost 5-2 and 5-0 to Nottingham Panthers and Coventry Blaze respectively.
Glowa, who made his 200th Elite League appearance against Panthers, said: “We keep talking about how much potential we have and we are only making little mistakes but if you keep making little mistakes for two months they turn into big mistakes and that is what we are addressing now because it is causing big problems. We have to work this out.
“We work hard but we don’t work smart. We make a little mistake and the next thing you know we are picking the puck out of our net. I have trouble calling it a little mistake now. We are not a flashy team, we do struggle to score goals but I never thought we were going to be some offensive juggernaut. I thought we were going to be good defensively and create our chances from good defensive play and we have got away from that. We have tried to run and gun with the likes of Nottingham and Coventry and you have seen the result of that. I am still confident we can turn things around and all we can do is stay positive.”
