British Ice Hockey are delighted to announce the Gongshow Gear BIH players of the month for January 2012.

Elite League: Shea Guthrie of the Coventry Blaze

Shea Guthrie signed for the Coventry Blaze last summer having spent the previous season with the Florida Everblades and Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. Despite not being one of the stand out signings, Paul Thompson’s faith in 24-year-old as Guthrie has gone on to be a major positive in a disappointing season for the Blaze.

Guthrie has gone on to become one of the Elite League’s outstanding players of the 2011/12 season and must now be a certainty for an all-star team selection. Guthrie’s explosive speed has caused problems for opposition Elite League defences all season, and Paul Thompson will be hoping that form continues heading into the playoffs.

Premier League: Martin Cingel of the Manchester Phoenix

Having spent nine season’s with the Edinburgh Capitals, Slovak Martin Cingel made the move to the English Premier League champions in the summer where he teamed up again with Tony Hand who had coached him during the 2003/04 and 2005/06 season’s

Spending so long in the UK’s top tier, few thought Cingel would having an issues being prolific in the EPL and he hasn’t failed to deliver. The 35-year-old winger has been in the EPL’s top ten points scorers for the majority of the season and has been a major reason in Manchester’s recently improved form as they look to retain the EPL crown.

National League: Joe Rand of the Wightlink Raiders

In a league where imports are starting to become more popular, Joe Rand has certainly got to be one of the best ENL signings of the 2011/12 season. Raiders coach Jeremy Cornish moved for the 25-year-old having after he impressed for Deggendorf in Germany last season.

Rand has continued his good form from Germany leading Wightlink into third place behind Romford and Chelmsford. Rand has impressed that much in ENL that there will no doubt be a number of suitors from the EPL come the summer months.
