High expectations but no pressure from the top

Scott Neil of the Edinburgh Capitals knows that the team is capable of causing a major upset this weekend by beating the might of the Nottingham Panthers. The Capitals face back to back matches against the Panthers this weekend with the overall victors progressing to the play off finals weekend in Nottingham the following week.

Neil commented, "I really believe we have the talent to make our first ever play-off finals. The guys have performed well all year and have continually risen to the challenge and I expect them to do that again this weekend. I have enjoyed watching the undoubted talent of this team throughout the season. Although we may well be the underdogs this weekend I am full of belief. I am really looking forward to the games this weekend and think hockey will be the winner whatever the results might be as there will be two fantastic games on offer with both teams knowing how high the stakes are."

Over the season the Panthers have had the edge with wins although the majority have been very close affairs with two games going into overtime. When it comes to play off games, however, all bets are off and the Capitals know they have what it takes to make it to the final four.

Capitals coach, Doug Christiansen, said, "The Panthers will be fired up and will have a full squad but we will be ready for them. They are Goliath. We are David. They have twice the budget, all the amenities a team could ever ask for. We have the smallest club in the league. They owned the season series and we are going to have to play our absolute best just to stay in it but I know we have what it takes to beat them."
