Holland departs to EPL

The Newcastle Vipers have today received news that British forward Dean Holland has accepted an offer from an unnamed English Premier League club for the 2010/11 season. Holland, a product of the Vipers Academy programme, had progressed from the club’s English National League team into a regular role with the Elite League team during the past four seasons.
Vipers General Manager Jaimie Longmuir was today disappointed with the news but acknowledged that the club were already looking at other British options: “Firstly I’d like to thank Dean for his efforts during his time with the club and we wish him well with his new club.
“While it’s disappointing news for myself and Danny, we were aware that we may have lost a number of our British contingent this summer so we have already started compiling a shortlist of available players and looking at alternative options.
In his first day in the job, new Vipers head coach Danny Stewart has today been busy contacting a number of last season’s core players as he looks to build a competitive and exciting brand of Vipers Hockey for 2010/11.
