I cannot wait to arrive, Speer

With less than two weeks to the Winn Solicitors Newcastle Vipers first game against the Edinburgh Capitals, former Lakehead University centreman Dan Speer confirmed he can’t wait to arrive in the UK. The 25-year-old arrives on Tyneside a week today as he starts his professional career in the Elite League.

 

“I cannot wait to arrive now” confirmed the Thunder Bay native. “It will be nice to enjoy a life where hockey is my primary concern without distractions such as study. Furthermore, I have patiently waited a long time to play professional hockey because of the route I decided to take after junior hockey”.

 

Looking ahead, Speer feels his style will suit the British game: “I think I will bring offense, energy, and excitement to the team. I have an extremely competitive personality and I hate to lose so I plan on being a big part of the team’s success”.

 

Despite being over three thousand miles away, Speer confirmed he has been keeping up to date with the Vipers since signing for the club: “It’s been exciting seeing the team come together, everyone involved in the organisation seems to be very dedicated. I’d like to take the opportunity to thank the Vipers fans for your support so far, many of them have been contacting me through social media so that’s certainly been appreciated. Hopefully I can go out and perform for them in return and help the team achieve success this season.

 

The Winn’s Vipers welcome the Edinburgh Capitals to Whitley Bay Ice Rink on Saturday 11^th September 2010 (7.00pm face-off).
