Callum Fowler

19 year old forward Callum Fowler has become the first new face to join the Invicta Dynamos ahead of the 2010/11 season having secured a move from the EPL’s Peterborough Phantoms. Fowler, a former Invicta junior, becomes the second name on the roster before the new campaign alongside returning defenceman Tim Smith who earlier put pen to paper.

Left handed forward Callum Fowler spent a period as a junior with the club before continuing to develop during spells at both Romford and Chelmsford. Aged just 11 he made his first appearance for the national side and his early promise led to him becoming the first athlete from a winter sport to be signed up to the Medway Elite Athlete Support Programme – a programme designed to help Medway’s most talented young sportsmen and women reach their full potential. He continued to excel and at 15 he was a part of the England under 16s side that claimed victory at the Verwijst international tournament in Holland. Later on, in 2008, he then represented the Great Britain under 18s team at the World Championships in Estonia with his side progressing to the division final but ultimately narrowly losing out to Hungary. He would be recalled to the squad in 2009 though, now donning the ‘C’ of captain, and this time Great Britain took Gold to gain promotion to the top division of world under 18s hockey.

At club level Callum Fowler secured a move to Peterborough in 2008 and he has spent two consecutive seasons icing for the Phantoms in the EPL including the club’s fantastic treble winning campaign of 2008/09 when the team took the EPL, English Premier Cup and EPL Playoff Titles. During his first term on the roster he picked up an impressive twelve ‘Man of the Match’ awards leading to him becoming the club’s ‘Young Player of the Year’. Now though the forward will be icing for the Invicta Dynamos at the Silver Blades Ice Rink Gillingham in 2010/11 and Head Coach Kevin Parrish is delighted to have him. Speaking on his latest aquisition Parrish said, “I am very happy that Callum has decided to join Invicta and he looks to be a big signing for us. He has great hands, excellent vision, a great shot and the pace to cause problems. What more could you want in a hockey player?”
