It's Viper underdogs v Giants of the Elite League
Rob Wilson heads into possibly his final weekend as head coach of the Mobilx Newcastle Vipers looking to finish on a high having announced his departure this week. Newcastle head into their playoff quarter final against an inform Belfast Giants with Wilson indicating the match-up is the Vipers underdogs versus Giants of the Elite League.
“It’s not going to be an easy two games with Belfast being on top of their game at the moment” said Wilson. “They are the form side in the league and outsiders will have them down as certainties for the playoff finals weekend. Like early in the season against Nottingham, we know we’re the underdogs and our league position reflected that against Belfast’s. They are one of the big franchises in the league and are expected to do well every single season. We are heading into the game knowing that we can cause upsets and the pressure will be very much on them – we’ve had the ‘Viper 11’ and if we carry the same work ethic into the weekend we could give them a good run for their money”.
The Mobilx Vipers travel to Northern Ireland to take on the Giants in the 1st leg tomorrow (7.00pm face-off), before returning to Tyneside for the 2nd leg at Whitley Bay Ice Rink on Sunday (4.30pm face-off). Tickets are available now priced at £11.00 for adults, £7.00 for concessions, £5.00 for under 16’s and £28.00 for a family (2 adults & 2 under 16’s).
