Jets maintain push for the top

With both teams missing out on their first games of the weekend the previous night Slough Jets journeyed across Berkshire to face the Bracknell Bees at the Hive.

League Match
The home team found the back of Gregg Rockman’s net just 107 seconds into the game when Rob Lamey opened the scoring. A period of 4 on 4 followed uncapitalised by neither team but when Ricky
Skene picked up a penalty making it a 4 on 3 advantage to Slough the visitors levelled the game with Mindy Kieras netting a powerplay goal. After trading further powerplay opportunities Slough netted the goal ahead goal via Dan Davies at 16.54 and held their advantage through to the first break.
Slough enjoyed a good start to the second period with Mark Galazzi netting their third goal at 22.04 and despite the home team enjoying the advantage in the shot count Rockman kept a clean sheet through the middle 20 minutes.
Bracknell staged a comeback in the third period with Brad Watchorn scoring a rebound goal at 42.26 and Matt Foord netted to level the game at 48.35 but a short strengthed Slough stepped up a gear when necessary and Joe Greener grabbed the go-ahead goal at 49.44. Despite a late powerplay and some empty net time Bracknell’s chances were ended when Masa picked up a penalty in the final minute leaving them shorthanded. As time ticked down Craig Moran from the bench and the team on the ice realised the impending win and the game ended for Bracknell with no points and a match penalty to Rob Lamey for abuse of official.
