Kalmikov brace sees off Capitals
Konstantin Kalmikov netted a late game-winning goal as Excel Hull Stingrays ended an eight-game losing streak with a vital 4-3 victory over Edinburgh Capitals at Hull Arena.
Lee Esders put Stingrays ahead in the third minute but Neil Hay restored parity. Kalmikov's first of the night on the powerplay saw the home side restore their lead only for Simon Lambert (powerplay) to level once again.
An Adam Knight powerplay marker put Stingrays in front for the third time in the game but Capitals hit back once more through Owen Fussey (powerplay) before Kalmikov's 56th-minute winner.
It was only Stingrays' third Elite League win of the season - and second over Edinburgh - and they now head into tomorrow's clash with player-coach Sylvain Cloutier's former club Coventry Blaze at the Skydome in confident mood.
