Kieras back with the Bison

Kieras back with the Bison

The Basingstoke Bison are proud to announce the re-signing of import D-man Mindy Kieras for the 2010/11 season.

The 30-year old collected 63 points in his first season for the Herd, was named in the EPL Second All-Star Team, as well as appearing for his native Lithuania in the World Championship Division One. Bison Director of Hockey Steve Moria was delighted to be welcoming the D-man back to the Basingstoke Arena.

"Mindy brings a lot of positive attributes to the side." said Moria, after completing the signing of his fourth and final import.

"He is an extremely intense player and is very strong in the defensive zone. He also possesses the hardest slap shot in the league, which makes our power-play very dangerous."

Kieras joined the Bison from Energija Elektrenai, the side where he began hs senior career in 1997. He first came to British shores in 2004, when he signed for the Edinburgh Capitals in the BNL.

He then spent the next two seasons with the Solihull Barons and Milton Keynes Lightning, before returning to the Latvian leagues.

However, Moria does still have one reservation about Kieras's re-signing.

"His dress sense leaves a lot to be desired, he does wear a lot of unique clothes!"

Bison fans have the chance to own Kieras's match-worn jerseys for the season as part of the Own and Loan scheme, which proved to be a great success last season.

Each player's home and away jersey will be available at £150 for the home shirt and £120 for the away.

All owners and loaners will have their name printed on the back of the player's jersey, as well as having the opportunity of getting a photograph with their respective player at the end of the season.
