Lambert departs Edinburgh for Sweden

Simon Lambert has today left the Edinburgh Capitals to join Swedish 1st Division outfit Olofströms IK having impressed last season in the Elite League. Having signed for the Scottish team last summer from the Central Hockey League’s Oklahoma City Blazers, Lambert went onto be one of the signings of the season with unknown 26-year-old going on to finish third in EIHL points scoring.
Having made exactly the same Edinburgh to Olofströms move as Mark Hurtubise took last summer, Lambert will be hoping that he can follow in Hurtubise’s footsteps with the latter finishing top scorer in Division 1 resulting in a lucrative move to Almtuna of the Allsvenskan.
Having formed a lethal partnership with Owen Fussey, who has joined the Coventry Blaze, the pair were a major reason in the Capitals most successful Elite League season since joining in 2005 from the British National League.
