Lefebvre set for Caps debut?
Following their decision to release Chris Allen today, BIH understands that the Edinburgh Capitals have signed former Sheffield Steelers and Coventry Blaze Marc Lefebvre. The French Canadian spent last season in the Southern Professional Hockey League with the Twin City Cyclones, Lefebvre is set to return to the UK for the first time since playing for the Blaze during 2005/06.
Having nearly signed for the Wightlink Raiders while in the EPL last season, the signing of Lefebvre will come as a surprise to many Capitals fans but is obviously a budget addition to increase roster numbers at Murrayfield Ice Rink.
While with Sheffield in 2003/04, Marc was a member of the Steelers team that won the EIHL’s first league and playoff double. With Lefebvre having a British passport, it is expected that he will make his Caps debut this weekend away to Coventry on Saturday.
Speculation suggests the Caps could also be set to add a further forward to their line-up with former Coventry and Nottingham forward Dan Welch being mentioned.
