Last night the Swindon Wildcats suffered a setback to their weekend's efforts, as they eventually fell to the MK Lightning on the road. The home side were the first open the scoring through import Tikkanen however with Swindon's Aaron Nell soon replying on a 4 on 4 situation, it left for an all even scoreline. Three minutes from time and the MK Lighting were to then to break the scoring once more, this time as a Towalski shot saw a second beat net minder Tom Murdy who had recently returned to the lineup after suffering a long term injury.

This led into an intense second period that for home side, opened in great style. Within 40 seconds MK had their third of the night through Tikkanen effort, that saw some individual talent see the puck find the back of the net. The home sides' Grant McPherson was to then make it four just past the half way stage and consequently lead Wildcat coach Ryan Aldridge and assistant coach Pete Russell to call a timeout for their side.

A team talk led to the team playing some good hockey throughout the rest of the period and left for a final 20 minutes of play, with the scores standing at 4-1.

In contrast to the second, Swindon would be the ones to open the third period as with only 56 seconds gone, it took a shot from previous scorer Nell to give his side a way back into the night's game.
From here the two sides then traded goals as McPherson found the net for the Lightning once again, before Wildcat import Jonas Hoog then scored to keep the game alive for a determined Swindon team.

However with a pulled net minder in the dying minutes, the Lightning soon dashed all hopes of a win as Zatopek slotted the puck home into an empty net and closed out the game with a 6-3 scoreline.

Despite playing some great hockey throughout the game, Swindon will now have to move on from this fixture and look ahead to tomorrow evening as they take on a Guildford Flames team.

Final Score: MK Lightning 6-3 Swindon Wildcats

Man of the Match: SWI - Nell / MKL - McPherson

Scorers: SWI - Nell (2) / MKL - Tikkanen (2), McPherson (2), Towalski, Zatopek
