Legends Ice Hockey are delighted to release the names of the first six signed up to take part in the May 6th Derby Day clash between Durham Wasps and Whitley Warriors Legends with the announcement of our netminding line-ups.

Taking to the ice between the pipes on the night for Durham will be Stephen Foster, Frank Killen and Neil Vickers, and in goal for the Warriors will be Whitley stalwart Kevin Dean, along with brothers Peter and David Graham.

"It's a great start for the Durham-Whitley game being able to name six goalies with a fantastic pedigree," said Gareth Chalmers of Legends Ice Hockey.

"The game itself now is only 4 months away and this is just the start of some fantastic names from the rich history of these two great clubs to be released in the coming weeks."

Tickets for the May 6 clash at Hillheads are available now from www.legendsicehockey.co.uk/tickets.html priced at £10.00 for adults and £5.00 for concessions (under 16’s, disabled, OAP and students).

All our events will support grass roots ice hockey and charities which we are speaking with at present along with the Ice Hockey Players Benevolent Fund.

Player Profiles:

Kevin Dean (Warriors)

A product of the Whitley junior development system, Kevin played over 230 games for the Warriors in a career spanning more than 10 years in the British Premier League and helping to lead the Warriors to their first major cup final for over 20 years in 1992. Kevin maintains links with the Hillheads outfit in a coaching capacity with the current ENL Warriors.

Peter Graham (Warriors)

Warriors' number one choice in the 80s and fan-favourite, Peter starred in many classic encounters between the two rival sides including the legendary 1988 Castle Eden Cup Final penalty shoot-out against the Wasps. With over 200 appearances chalked-up for the Warriors, Peter also had spells at Trafford, Dumfries and Billingham.

David Graham (Warriors)

Brother of Peter, David began his netminding career at Whitley before heading south for spells with British League rivals Solihull Barons and Nottingham Panthers as well as representing Great Britain at international level in the 80s and early 90s.

Stephen Foster (Wasps)

After progressing through the ranks of the Durham juniors 'Fozzy' first rose to prominence in 1990 with a stunning performance against the Wasps as a teenager in the Castle Eden Cup playing for neighbouring Cleveland Bombers. On returning to Durham, Stephen quickly established himself between the pipes, taking on the mantle of the Wasps first-choice goalie in the mid 90s and representing Team GB.

Frank Killen (Wasps)

Debuting for the Big Blue Machine in the early 80s, Frank racked up over 110 appearances for Durham before joining Humberside Seahawk in the 1991/92 season. A key player in many of the League and Championship winning Wasps' sides and famed for almost being knocked out live on BBC Grandstand from a Fife Flyers' slapshot during the 1987 Wembley finals.

Neil Vickers (Wasps)

From Midgies to Mosquitoes to Hornets and then Wasps, Neil is another product of the Durham junior development programme and was a regular back-up goalie for the Big Blue Machine during the late 80s and early 90s. Neil currently plays Rec Hockey for Durham Dragons as well as producing a mean range of custom-made goalie masks in his spare time.
