Following the recent signing of Doug Sheppard, the Slough Jets are delighted to announce their third import signing with Lithuanian international Darius Pliskauskas joining for the 2010/11 season. Having spent last season split between the Edinburgh Capitals of the Elite League and the Romford Raiders of the English Premier League, the 29-year-old will be no stranger to Jets fans.

Jets head coach Pete Russell was today delighted to confirm his latest addition: “I was very impressed with Darius in Romford last season, he caused us a number of problems when we played them and I think he is the offensive talent we need to replace Jasik. To score over a goal a game and just under two points a game in any team is not easy, and I believe he can repeat that form with us. He is highly skilled and very fast, he has a great shot and I believe will add to our offensive punch.”

With an import defenceman lined up to replace the departed Jan Melichar and the recent arrivals of Sheppard and Pliskauskas, Russell also confirmed that Slovakian Peter Poljacek would not be returning for a second season at The Hanger.

“Last season was a difficult year for Peter being away from his family” said Russell. “He’s took the decision to move closer to home and we’d like to thank him for all his efforts last season and wish him all the best in the future”.
