Mobilx Newcastle Vipers GM Jaimie Longmuir today hailed the addition of Braehead Clan as a positive move for the League, and looked forward to more good news stories in the coming weeks.

Elite League bosses confirmed yesterday that Braehead will begin operations for the 2010-2011 season, playing out of the fantastic 4000-seat Braehead Arena just outside Glasgow.

"It's a great move by the team owners, and shows we are comitted to growing the League," said Longmuir.

"This announcement is the first of many good news stories regarding next season, and I'm sure the Newcastle fans will share my excitement when everything becomes clear.

"Having another team in the League will add to the fan experience, with a new team coming to our rink but also another venue for our supporters to visit.

"The Braehead rink is attached to the biggest shopping centre on the West coast of Scotland, and is very accessible from the motorway. The facility itself is brilliant, like a miniature version of the NIC in Nottingham.

"Work has already started within the Newcastle organisation in planning for next season, we appreciate this year hasn't been easy for the club and our fans. However the future is looking very positive for the Vipers and the Elite League."
