Mahovsky excited for season ahead

Having recently graduated from the University of Alberta, Dale Mahovsky is now looking to make an impact in his first season as a professional. The 25-year-old forward signed for the Winn Solicitors Newcastle Vipers this summer having decided to pursue a career in Europe rather than North America.

 

Looking ahead to his arrival in the UK next week, Mahovsky today confirmed he is looking forward to the coming season: “I am excited to be coming to Newcastle, I cannot wait to meet all the guys on the team, the staff and the Vipers fans” said the Alberta native. “I think it’s going to be quite an experience for me and I am looking forward to experiencing a new situation in Newcastle and the Elite League”.

 

Mahovsky won’t be the only University of Alberta graduate plying their trade in the UK this season with Ian MacDonald having joined the Nottingham Panthers: “I am looking forward to playing all the teams as they’re unknown to me and it’s something new. However, Nottingham and Edinburgh stand-out right now as I have friends who will be playing on those teams”.

 

“I am also excited to play Belfast as they seem to be good every year and I think they will be a great test for our team to make a statement that we will be a good team this year. Overall I’m just looking at one game at a time, but I just want to get over now and get on the ice against Edinburgh next Saturday. I know the people in Newcastle are working very hard and I hope to be able to represent that on the ice and off the ice in the community”.

 

Winn’s Vipers player-coach Danny Stewart has confirmed that the club are close to announcing two new import signing ahead of next weekend’s games against the Edinburgh Capitals. The club are currently processing the relevant paperwork and once complete the new additions will be unveiled.

 

The Vipers will be looking to “Strike Back” in their Star Wars themed game against the Sheffield Steelers on Sunday 19^th September (5.30pm).
