McLean: Time to show some character

Canadian forward Mike McLean admits CPP Coventry Blaze must “show some character” in the final 10 games of the Rapid Solicitors Elite League season.
Blaze have now slipped to sixth place in the standings after they followed up their back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Steelers last weekend by losing to Braehead Clan on Saturday and Sunday.
A Jade Galbraith hat-trick inspired Clan to a 6-4 win at the Skydome on Sunday night as they leapfrogged Blaze into fifth.
But Paul Thompson’s side were once again counting the cost of failing to finish a game off from a winning position as well as being punished for their mistakes.
McLean said: “It was really frustrating. Coming off last weekend, when we battled hard against Sheffield, we knew how important it was to try and catch Cardiff in the standings.
“We did not play very well in Braehead and then at home we had a brain lapse and it cost us.
“We played so well against Sheffield only for one or two mistakes to hurt us and then we made mistakes against one of the best players in the league [Galbraith] and you cannot do that.
“Thommo’s frustrations boiled over and he was tossed out of the game, it was pretty frustrating all round.
“These last 10 games are important and we need to show some character. We don’t want to go into the play-offs on a bad run. We have one trophy left to play for and we need to come together as a team.”
