Melichar departs to pastures new

Slough Jets head coach Peter Russell has today confirmed that experienced Czech defenceman Jan Melichar will not be offered a new contract for the 2010/11 season. The 32-year-old defenceman had spent four season’s with Bracknell before making the short trip along the M4 last summer. Jets head coach Pete Russell today paid tribute to Melichar and wished him all the best with his new club: "Firstly I’d like to thank Jan for his efforts during his time in Slough. "I know Jan personally and this was the toughest decision I have ever had to make as Jan has been a model professional on and off the ice and I know he will be an asset to the club he is joining. While I am disappointed to be losing Jan, I felt this was a change I had to make and we’re close to signing someone we believe will fit into what we’re trying to build here next season." During his 54 games with the Jets, Melichar posted 7 goals and 26 assists.
