Michel moves to Bjorkloven
Tylor Michel, feisty Devils forward, will be moving to mainland Europe for the 2011-12 season. Talks had been ongoing with Michel since the end of the season and Devils were hoping to have him return to the roster, however Tylor has made the decision to continue his career in Sweden with Bjorkloven.
Having previously played a role as a checking forward, Michel enjoyed time on the special teams with the Devils and earned a place in the hearts of the Red Army fans with his tenacity and gritty style of play. He flourished with the Devils, setting career years for goals and points in both 2010-11 and last season.
Bench coach Neil Francis had this to say:
“It’s a massive blow to not have Tylor back but we have to respect his decision.
I am sure all the fans will want to join us in thanking him for his huge contribution to the team these last 2 years and wish him and his new fiancé Alex all the best for the future. Tylor will be remembered for a long time for the outstanding shifts he put in night after night and I am sure he will carry fond memories of his time here too. I know he really enjoyed his time here, and all the support he received as a Cardiff Devil.”
Head Coach Gerad Adams said, “We are really pleased we could play a part in Tylor’s career development and have no doubt he will be a success with his new team in Sweden.
We are always mindful that successful players will be targets for other teams in Europe and North America so we always need to make contingency plans. We have some really exciting players in mind as potential replacements and we will now explore those options in more detail.”
The Cardiff Devils would like to thank Tylor for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best in the future.
