MK re-sign Smulder and Heron

The Milton Keynes Lightning are pleased to announce the re-signing of influential forward Andre Smulter. Andre is coming back to MK for his third year after two very good seasons where he has been a focal point of the MK offence.

Coach Nick Poole on the capture, 'We are thrilled to bring Andre back as he brings so much to our side. He is a good goal scorer but more importantly he is a leader in our changing room. He has taken the English game to his heart and has many of the spirited qualities that has endeared him to our fans. He constantly comes up with big goals when needed and we will be looking for more of that this coming season. I know Andre is very excited to be back and will be coming back early to prepare for the coming season'.

Nick went on to add, 'I would like to thank the supporter's club and the many fans that have helped make this popular signing possible. The league has gone up a further gear this year with some aggressive recruiting done by other teams and it is great that our supporter's have helped to ensure that we are putting out a competitive team that can look to defend it's league title'.

The Lightning have also signed young Milton Keynes product Jacob Heron for the upcoming season. Jacob will be a full time Lightning and will look to provide competition for places amongst the forward lines. Jacob starred for the MK U18's last season that won the Southern League and has also played for the South West conference teams.

Nick on Jacob's signing, 'This is a big year for Jacob and I know he is looking forward to the challenges ahead. He is a gutsy forward who can provide offence and will see more action this coming season. He wants to commit full time to our side and I know he is incredibly keen on improving over the next year. He has set himself the goal of trying to play his way onto our third line and knows he will be used when we have injuries and suspensions. It is great to see a youngster who has come through the MK ranks from our Learn to Play program to now cracking his way into the senior side. Jacob will again wear number 62 this coming season.
