New import for Raiders
Romford Raiders have solved their import puzzle by agreeing terms with Slovakian forward, Juraj Huska. The 28 year old is already known to British hockey fans having starred for Telford in the 2007 season where he outscored Claude Dumas to finish top of Tigers' charts. Huska has also played in North America and France as well as in his home country where much of his junior career was spent with HKM Zvolen, the team that also produced Jozef Sladok. Raiders' latest arrival met and trained with his new team-mates last night and quickly made a favourable impression.
"Juri actually skated with us at the tail end of last year but we had a few irons in the fire at the time and eventually plumped for Darius Pliskauskas", said a Raiders' spokesman. "Things are different now and signing Juri will definitely increase Danny Marshall's offensive options and just freshen up the team generally.
"We are very serious about being a competitive force in this division so the Sundays-only situation with Al (Visockas) was never going to continue without some movement. We probably needed a change anyway and investing in a points scorer like Juri demonstrates that we still intend to be challenging for honours. Al has done nothing wrong so we'll keep three imports on the books and he will continue to be available for selection if we need him."
The Romford organisation is very hopeful that their new man will be cleared to make his debut this Saturday when the Raiders face Chelmsford at Rom Valley Way.
