In a game which started with the news that the GMB are on board as main team sponsors for at least another three seasons, the Panthers turned on the style to beat Sheffield 5-1 in front of a sell-out crowd.
It was the Panthers second victory in as many festive days over their biggest rivals, having won 3-5 in Sheffield on Boxing Day.
And it was a great game to watch for the packed crowd at the Capital FM Arena which thoroughly justified its billing as the game not to miss.
A goalless first period saw King of Sheffield thrown out on a five and Game for boarding. Both penalty kill units were in superb form. Nottingham took the lead when Matthew Myers tipped home, Steelers equalised after great work by Legue opened it up for Ramsay.
Guy Lepine cleared the defence and Sami Ryhanen tee'd it up for Matt Francis to take the puck in and he hit the five-hole to give Nottingham a go-ahead goal that ultimately turned out to be the game-winner.
And the GMB Panthers were still looking sharp with the excellent Jordan Fox playing a big part along with Jeff Heerema to set David Alexandre Beauregard up in front for a powerplay goal which gave Nottingham a two-goal cushion at the second break. Nottingham keeper Craig Kowalski was in great form again too.
A big change in tactics saw Nottingham control the third period with started with a bang when Matthew Myers bagged his second on the end of a lovely move just seconds into the final session and Matty Francis also scored before the final hooter to round off the scoring and send the home fans away happy after a great Christmas for the GMB Panthers!
