Peterborough Phantoms 8 - 0 Swindon Wildcats
Last Sunday the Swindon Wildcats were unable to bounce back from a home defeat suffered the previous evening, when they suffered an 8-0 loss at the hands of an on form Peterborough Phantoms side. Within the first five minutes the homeside were able to take the lead, when Phantoms' Darius Lelenas put away a rebound opportunity. Joe Miller then made it two after he saw his one timer chance beat Swindon's netminder Chris Douglas to double Peterborough's lead. Pressing on into the second and Luke Ferrara found the net for his side after crashing the net at 32:58. On 37:05, Peterborough's James Morgan then had his shot deflected by Maris Ziedins for the club's fourth before James Spurr trailed in to lash home the fifth.
The final period saw no lay off from the Phantoms and previous scorer Lelenas soon grabbed another with a fearsome wristshot for 6-0. A deflating sixth goal then led the way for young Conner Stokes to pick up his debut goal from the angle to earn a standing ovation from the home fans. Conner was then given further chances on the ice during the third and after finding himself in a breakaway situation inside the last minute, a composed shot saw the puck beat Douglas and bring a close to the game's proceedings.
A tough weekend for the Wildcats who will be quickly looking to turn their results around when they face local rivals the Bracknell Bees this weekend. A point seperates the two sides and with alot of pressure on both come this Saturday, this game is sure to be one not to miss.
