Phantoms deny Wildcats away win
Tonight the Swindon Wildcats were denied an away win at Peterborough, as the Phantoms took an early lead forward to see them take the night's points. The home side's Ziedens put his side ahead at 09:08 before Darius Lenenas then doubled the Phantom's lead two minutes later. By the end of the first Peterborough had made it 3-0 and put their stamp on the game as the first 20 minutes came to an end.
As the second period opened the home side would pick up just where they had left off and with two minutes gone on the clock, newly signed Matty Davies made it 4-0 for his team. Moments later Swindon's Egidijus Bauba would get one back for the travelling side however with two more put away by the Phantoms throughout the period, the scores were left 6-1 at the end of the second with a real challenge set for the Wildcats side. A challenge which was well fought for as the final period commenced, with the in form Lee Richardson getting one back to close the gap between the two teams.
Fellow forward Sam Bullas would also score on the Phantoms net however a quick goal by Peterborough would then send the scores to 7-2 with just over 10 minutes left on the clock. Although the 'Cats would eventually put a final third goal of the night, it seemed the deficit was too high for even the recent in form Swindon side to recover from as the night drew to an end. Even with this consequently disappointing weekend for the Wildcats, they still sit four points ahead of the teams below them in the league, with the Slough Jets awaiting in back to back games next weekend in what looks to be two exciting local derby games.
