Courtsey of wightlinkraiders.com Wightlink Raiders overcame another delay to their season to win 6-1 at home to Milton Keynes Thunder at the weekend.
Following last weekend's abandoned game at Alexandra Palace - which ultimately resulted the league awarding opponents Haringey a 5-0 victory - due to traffic problems, the Raiders were keen to get back on the ice.
However, a late arriving official delayed the start of this match, leaving the fans impatient for some action.
When it did get underway, they weren't disappointed. Kent Johnson opened the scoring with a powerplay goal before a deadly hat trick by Jeremy Cornish helped the home side to a 4-1 lead. Johnson added his second before fans favourite Steve Gosset rounded off the scoring in the third.
Head coach Cornish told the club's official website: "I think the game started slowly and we found our groove after the first ten minutes or so.
"Milton Keynes maybe aren't the most skilled team, but they work hard and I thought they had good goal tending and some solid young hard working players.
"I think my line with Johnson and Tait is on form at the moment and the same goes for Gossets line. The Sarno, Hughes and Robo line is working hard at the moment, but the puck doesn't seem to be bouncing their way. I think come Sunday, they will be back to producing the way they did at the start of the season."
