The Basingstoke Bison are pleased to announce the re-signing of Tony Redmond for the forthcoming season.
The popular Scot returns for what will be his 13th season and holds many club records including the all time league appearances at 446 and is also the top British league goal scorer with 145.
The experienced utility player will be a key member of the squad, being able to play both forward and defence and he will also once again take up the role of assistant/coach.
Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “Tony was the first player I wanted to speak to and sign so I am really pleased he is back. He is like me hungry to win trophies and we work well together.”
Redmond talking about signing on for another year for the Herd said: “I am very happy to be back and very much looking forward to the new season.
“I think we improved greatly last year as a team and were very unfortunate not to win a trophy, but it was not to be. However we will be concentrating on the positives from last season and looking to improve on certain aspects so that we can take the extra step needed to gain some silverware.”
The Glasgow-born forward missed part of last season after breaking his wrist and added: “I do not know anyone that doesn't get frustrated when they are injured, but I stayed as positive and as fit as I could during that time and tried to assist Mo as much as possible with the coaching side of things, so was pretty busy.”
Looking at his highlights from last season, Redmond said: “I would have to say beating Manchester 4-1 was a big highlight for me as I was given the specific role of shadowing the best British player of all time.
“But beating Manchester away in the second leg of the cup semi-final topped that, especially as I played the whole game after only having my wrist out of plaster four days earlier.”
Following the success of last season’s Own-and-Loan jersey’s, the Basingstoke Bison are once delighted to offer the opportunity for fans to ‘Own-and-Loan’ the home and away jersey’s that will be worn by the Bison throughout the 2011/12 season.
Each player’s home and away jersey will be available to purchase at £150 and £120 respectively. All Owners and Loaners will have their name printed on the back of the player’s jersey, as well as having the opportunity of a photograph with their respective player at the end of the season.
Two players jerseys are now up for grabs, as you can purchase Steve Moria’s and Tony Redmond’s shirts for the season.
