Three Scottish ice hockey clubs will renew old rivalries with the announcement of the East Coast Challenge trophy that will feature Dundee CCS Stars, Edinburgh Capitals and Fife Flyers.
The tournament will commence with Fife Flyers taking on Edinburgh Capitals in Kirkcaldy on 25th January and will culminate with a 'Finals Night' in Dundee Ice Arena on Thursday 17th March.
The three teams will play each other in a 'round robin' series of games, home and away with the team finishing with the most points qualifying automatically into the final. The teams qualifying in second and third places will play each other on the 'Finals Night' with the winner contesting the final against the 'round robin' winners.
Each team will be allowed a maximum of four imports with the rest of the roster made up from British trained players. On the final day the two games will be 2 x 20 minutes periods with a running clock but the final 2 minutes of the 2nd period will be played with a stopped clock. There will be no overtime or penalty shots in the round robin games.
