Simon hails second NIC win
Player-coach Ben Simon hailed every single Sheffield Steelers player tonight after the club's second success within the space of a month against the Nottingham Panthers. The Steelers travelled to the Lace City looking for a win in the Challenge Cup and following goals from Rob Globke, Rob Dowd and Rod Sarich, Simon's outfit skated away with a 1 - 3 win.
"Every single one of the guys was superb tonight" confirmed Simon. "We turned up to a very difficult place to get anything from, we worked hard all night, took the game to them and came away with what we wanted - the win and the two points. We're down on numbers right now because of injuries so tonight was a major team effort and the supporters were magnificent again."
Looking ahead to Friday clash at home against the Panthers, Simon has called on Steelers supporters to turn up in force as they go for three and zero against the Panthers so far this season.
"After tonight we're really looking forward to Friday, we're not getting carried away as we know they'll but hurting having lost twice on home ice against us. However we've picked up two wins in Nottingham so far this season and with this being the first Panthers clash at the Arena, we want to send the supporters home on Friday win a win."
In their second clash of the week against their bitter rivals, the Nottingham Panthers are visitors to the Motorpoint Arena on Friday night (7.30 pm face-off).
