The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
The Swindon Wildcats rounded up their pre season Ice Hockey games this evening, by heading to the home of Play off Champions the Slough Jets.
With no love lost between the teams the game continued the form of the previous week's, played at a fast and fierce pace with nothing in between the teams. Slough however gained an edge in the last minute of period one with a goal from Daruis Pliskaukas.
Goals flowed more freely in the second period as the Wildcats levelled the scores at 22:30 with Matt Foord picking up a Jamie Hayes rebound to beat the Jets netminder Rockman. The Jets then took advantage of a Powerplay to take the lead back at 24:17 through a combined assault from Carl Thompson and Doug Sheppard.
Slough extended their lead through a 2nd Pliskaukas goal which ripped through the shoulders of Wildcats netminder Chris Douglas, before Blaz Emersic catches the Cats 2nd line being indecisive to make it 4-1 at 36:34.
Just over a minute later Hayes pinches the puck for the Cats and outdekes Rockman to kep the Wildcats in the game leading into the 3rd period.
The 3rd period started strong for the Wildcats who put sustained pressure on the champions, but this pressure proves fruitless when former Wildcats Jan Krajicek puts the Jets 3 up to end the game at 5-2.
Jamie Hayes wins the Wildcats Man of the Match while the Jets star import Daruis Pliskaukas takes the spoils for the Jets.
The Wildcats will take heart from their performance with some excellent work from the Foord, Hayes and Loris Taylor line that made the favourites for the league title and Play off champions work very hard for their win. Swindon however will be looking to find the net on more occasions when they start their EPL campaign against the Telford Tigers on Saturday at the Link Centre with a 5.45pm start.
Tickets can be purchased for the game which is sure to be well attended from the Box Office on 01793 885857, from the Link Centre or online at www.swindonwildcats.com.
