Smokin' Joe Returns!!!

Smokin' Joe Returns!!!

Canadian hot shot Joe Ciccarello returns to the Basingstoke Bison line-up this week as they look to maintain their current great run of results.

The Herd have only beaten once in their last five outings, will be boosted by one of their top goal scorers being back in the line-up for the home clash with the Swindon Wildcats on Saturday.

These sides met last Saturday at the Link Centre in Wiltshire and dished up a great contest, which went all the way to overtime with Bison’s Mindy Kieras scoring the winner.

The Lithuanian defenceman had earlier tied the game after Steve Moria scored the Herd’s first two goals of the contest.

The Wildcats at one point led 3-1 in the contest, thanks to strikes from Jason Cassells, Jan Krajicek and Aaron Nell.

A repeat performance may not be good for the nerves of the players, but will certainly keep the fans on the edge of their seats for the whole game.

Swindon will still be minus former Basingstoke player/coach Ryan Aldridge as once again he sits out a suspension.

Talking ahead of the contest, Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “I felt we played a good 60 minute game in Swindon and limited their shooters to the outside. We will set out to do that again and I see no reason why we cannot take the two points.

“We want to keep this good run going and build on the confidence which is now in the changing room.”

Tickets are still available from the box office on (01256) 355266 for what is sure to another great night’s entertainment at the Basingstoke Arena. Doors open at 5.30pm with all the action getting under way at 6.30pm.

On Sunday night, Basingstoke head to Romford to take on a Raiders who should have import Darius Pliskavskas making his home debut after the forward signed from the Edinburgh Capitals this week.

So far this season, the Bison have won on both their visits to Rom Valley Way so will be hoping to record a clean sweep on Sunday.

Moria said: “Romford is always a tough place to go an place and this weekend will be no different. They will be keen to win at home and we want the two points as well as I still feel a top four is not beyond this team.”

The game in Romford has a 5.15pm start time.
