SNL round-up: Pirates tighten grip on title race

Paisley Pirates opened up a three point lead at the top of the SNL after securing a win and a draw from two difficult fixtures.

The Pirates kicked off the weekend with a hard-fought 4-3 win at home to title rivals Aberdeen Lynx – Chris Wilson, Ross Jordan, David Orr and Calum Blair were on the scoresheet for the home side.

Sunday’s game at Edinburgh Capitals SNL was a tight affair, but goals by Liam Riddell, Fraser Campbell and Martyn Guy helped the visitors to a 3-3 draw and cemented their place at the head of the standings.

Dundee Tigers stay fifth in the table after recording a 5-1 home win against Kilmarnock Storm.

Scott Marr put the home side in front in the 3rd minute, but Craig MacKenzie tied things up just before the first break.

Paul Guilcher and Grant Reekie made it 3-1 in the middle session, and Reekie put the game beyond doubt after 52 minutes with his second of the game.

Callum Turnbull rounded off the scoring two minutes later to complete a comfortable victory for the Tigers.

Dundee Comets are through to the SNL Cup semi-finals after completing a 13-3 aggregate victory over Moray Typhoons.
