Stars move back above Fife
Stars moved back above opponents Flyers after a convincing 6-2 win on Tayside with player/coach Brent Hughes leading the way with a brace.
A first win in five for Stars but now three straight losses for Flyers .
The home side got off to a devastating start, scoring twice within the first minute with counters from skipper A J McLean after only 18 seconds and Jarrett Konkle 38 seconds later. Flyers recovered from this body blow however and were next to score when Dan Ceman hit the net at 6.3 on the powerplay, these being the only goals of the opening session.
Period two saw Stars take command. Mark Kolanos at 25.38 and Hughes at 27.33 had them 4-1 ahead before Ceman reduced the leeway at 30.52 again on the powerplay. Last word in the period went to the home said however, with Ross McIntosh firing home at 37.49.
Flyers could make no headway as they attempted a comeback in the final period and it was Stars who stretched their lead at 57.13 when Hughes scored his second of the game to clinch a vital win and two important points for his side.
