Stingrays confirm first game of the 2010/11 campaign

The Hull Stingrays are delighted to announce that they will be back in competitive action for the first time at the Hull Arena on Sunday 3rd October. The Challenge Cup game, which will be the first under the new ownership, will be against Welsh outfit Cardiff Devils and will face-off at 6pm.

The confirmation cements Hull’s position back in the Elite League and arrives just two days after the Stingrays were confirmed as back in business.

“We’ve been working nonstop since we made the decision to take on the Stingrays,” commented new club Director Mike Cowley, “And after an Elite League board meeting yesterday, we’re now in a position to confirm the first fixture.

“If people have plans for that night, they need to cancel them !  If there’s something they want to watch on the TV, record it.  We want the return of the Stingrays to be something special.  An opening night to remember.”

Since the announcement that the Stingrays are set to return, the office has been inundated with emails, letters and phone calls with offers of help and support for the new owners.

“It’s been crazy; the phone hasn’t stopped ringing with messages of support from Hull fans, which is really encouraging. I’m pleased we can now give them something to look forward to again. A proper date to focus on.  The confirmation of our first fixture has made the process very real and we’re really excited about getting the season started!” said co-owner James Pease.

In the next twenty-four hours the team are expecting to release details on season tickets along with information on plans for a fan’s forum in the coming week. The full fixture list will follow in due course.

Stingrays Head Coach, Sylvain Cloutier has also confirmed that British players, Lee Esders, Matt Davies and Andy Jaszczyk have all committed themselves to the new Hull side for the 2010/11 season.
