Stingrays sign Tendler & Dulle

Sylvain Cloutier, Head Coach of the Elite Ice Hockey League’s Hull Stingrays has today confirmed that he has completed the signings of Kurtis Dulle and Jereme Tendler from the Corpus Christi Ice Rayz of the Central Hockey League.

Twenty-six year old Canadian centreman, Tendler joins the Stingrays after two professional seasons in Corpus Christi where he posted 47 points in 81 regular season and play off games.  The 6’2” forward from Viceroy, Saskatchewan, turned pro after completing a stellar four-year career at American International College. He led AIC in scoring twice in his career (2005-06 and 2006-07), and served as an assistant captain during his senior season. Over his four seasons at AIC, Tendler compiled 49 goals, 38 assists, 87 points, and 170 penalty minutes in 126 games.

Prior to his collegiate career, Tendler had two stand out seasons for the Weyburn Red Wings from 2002 to 2004, where he racked up 51 goals and 51 assists for 102 points in 111 games. In his last season with Weyburn in 2003-04, Tendler tied for the team lead with 61 points (26g, 35a), and helped propel the team to a division title.

“Jereme is a powerful, skilled forward,” said Cloutier. “He is a pure goal scorer who will bring a lot of offence to our club.  He is a very good skater, fast and sees the ice well.  I traded for Jereme while I was coaching in Corpus Christi as he was the offensive minded player that I was needing to make my team more complete and he went on to score 13 goals in 15 games. He can find the net and he will compete every night, a big reason why I am bringing him here.  I am very happy that he is coming here, a definite asset all around.”

Fellow Canadian, Dulle (pronounced Dooley), has spent the last six seasons patrolling the blue lines of the Central Hockey League including just over four seasons with the Rio Grande Killer Bees.  The thirty year old, 5’ 11” offensive defenceman from Craik, Saskatchewan was a Central League All-Star in 2006-2007 when he had seven goals and 33 assists with the Tulsa Oilers and the following season was named Youngstown’s most valuable defenceman where he also served as an assistant captain.

“I am extremely excited to have Kurtis come onboard with us,” added Cloutier. “He will bring experience, leadership and passion to our club.  He competes every night and has high expectations for not only himself but for the team as well.  He was an all-star in the CHL and I’m looking for him to bring that dedication to us this season.  He is very excited to come here and is looking forward to being a big part of the re-building of the Hull Stingrays.”

Cloutier has also confirmed that young British forward, Ben Lowe has committed himself to the Stingrays new ownership team and will take his place in the Hull line up for the 2010/11 season.  Nineteen year old Lowe will be entering his second season with his home town club.

The Stingrays take to the ice for the first time on Sunday October 3rd when they entertain the Cardiff Devils in the Elite League’s Challenge Cup.
