On Sunday evening the Swindon Wildcats had to endure a loss on the road, as they fell the wrong side of a 6 - 3 score to the Manchester Phoenix. The Wildcats did well to open the night's proceedings with the first goal of the game through import Hoog, however after having to defend a 5 on 3 situation the Phoenix were soon back into the game with a power play goal.

Still with the extra man, Manchester then went about scoring a second shortly after, this time through the home side's James Archer.

The second period held some good action by both sides however when Manchester's Archer then put away a personal second for the night and a third for his side, the Phoenix then saw their lead doubled.

In style Archer then completed his hat trick just a minute on and left the Wildcats to call a timeout.

A good call by the side would then lead to consequential goal, as forward Aaron Nell would find the net on the next play and bring the scores to 4-2.

Before the period was out the Phoenix's Koulikov then notched a fifth to close the second and give the home team a three goal lead once more.

Into the third period and Swindon would find themselves back into the game after a second Aaron Nell goal drew the scores to 5 - 3, but with Manchester's Duggan finding a way to score a sixth this closed out any chance of a comeback and drew the night's game to a close.

With the final buzzer sounded it confirmed 6 - 3 win the Manchester Phoenix and left the Swindon Wildcats with their first pointless weekend since the end of November.

Swindon will now look towards this weekend when they face off against the Basingstoke Bison on home ice. With the home stretch of the season approaching and those playoff spots being chased, the league's teams will now look at each fixture with that much more importance and with it, two more points to be won.
