Telford Tigers 5 - 2 Swindon Wildcats
The Swindon Wildcats encountered the highs and lows of the English Premier League this weekend as they failed to follow up their fantastic win over the Manchester Phoenix on Saturday, losing out tonight 5-2 in a battling display to the Telford Tigers in Shropshire.
First blood of the evening went to the Tigers through their Lativian import Andrejs Maslovskis before the high scoring Josef Liska rounded out the first period with an equalizer for the Wildcats.
The 2nd period remained tight with only 2nd goal from the Tigers Maslovskis giving the hosts a one goal lead.
Telford started the 3rd period with a goal through Marek Hornak , only for the Wildcats to come straight back and keep the game alive with a short handed goal from Josef Kohut. At 53 minutes Telford's Joe Henry added to the Shropshire sides tally before an empty net goal sealed the Wildcats fate a 5-2 loss.
Goal Scorer Josef Kohut was the Wildcat Man of the Match drawing praise from Swindon's head Coach Ryan Aldridge. "Although we, lost tonight we have many positives to take from our weekend, where we beat Manchester. One of those positives has been the outstanding form of Josef who has had a tremendous start to the season".
Aldridge went on to say "Tonight was obviously a different performance from yesterday. Mistakes cost us the first 3 goals, and an unlucky bounce the 4th, but some of the boys didn't show up. We have another tough weekend coming up and we need everyone to show up and perform over the full 6 periods not 3 or 4".
