The Cats perform but Slough take the spoils
The Swindon Wildcats headed to take on the Slough Jets at the Hangar in the English Premier League looking to push their claim for a play off place. The Cats again looked to be in good form but failed to take the league points and the victory.
An early Powerplay for the Wildcats failed to open up the scoring, whilst the Jets Captin Blaz Emersic connected with a chip from Paddy Ward to give the hosts first blood. The Cats fought back though creating plenty of traffic in front of their oppositions net with Aaron Nell bagging the equaliser whilst on a Powerplay.
It was all Wildcats in the final third of the 1st period but a speculative poke from former Wildcat with 15 seconds to go saw the Jets retake the lead 2:1.
Frantic action from the offset in period two saw Raimonds Danlics beat the Slough netminder Michael Bowman only for Sam Waller to clear of the puck off of the goal Line. The Jets quickly move down to the Cats goal where Emersic scored his 2nd. Jason Cassells was the next Wildcat to get on the scoreboard, picking up a rebound to take the scores to 2:3 at the end of the 2nd.
The third period however was scoreless after near misses and great defending on both sides seeing the Wildcats narrowly miss out on a shock against the in form Slough Jets. The closeness of this games leads up nicely to the return encounter between the two sides at the Link Centre next Sunday 16th January where the Wildcats will be looking to gain revenge on home ice.
Man of the Match for the Wildcats was netminder Geoff Woolhouse.
