The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
Hot on the heels of the news that Lukas Smital is returning to the Hive, the Bees are delighted to announce that another former Bracknell star is joining the club for the 2011/12 English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) season, 23-year old forward Shaun Thompson.
Shaun, a product of his local junior programme in Slough, began playing Elite League hockey at the age of only 16 with the Basingstoke Bison. Following two years there, Shaun was signed on a two-way deal with the Bees at the start of the 2005/06 EPIHL season and was a member of the team that won the League Cup that year. League, Play Off and Cup championships followed in the next two seasons, during the club's most successful spell.
Shaun was an integral part of that success, scoring 64 goals and 68 assists for a total of 132 points in 130 matches, over the three seasons.
Shaun also tasted international success, when he helped the Great Britain Under 20s team to win the gold medal in the 2006 World Junior Championships. Shaun was called up four times to represent the national side at both Under 18s and Under 20s levels, scoring 13 goals and 10 assists in 19 matches.
After leaving the Bees at the end of the 2007/08 season, Shaun returned to the Elite League and spent time over the following years with the Basingstoke Bison, the Hull Stingrays and the Braehead Clan.
Last season, Shaun returned to his home town Slough Jets and was a member of the side that secured the EPIHL Cup title.
Bees Head Coach Gareth Cox said - "Thommo is another key signing for us. Although he is only 23 he has immense experience and had an impressively successful start to his senior career. He has exactly the confident, positive mentality that I'm trying to make sure is at the core of the dressing room this year and I'm looking forward to seeing him back in a Bees shirt. The good thing as well is that he has previously played at Bracknell with Lukas Smital and Peter Jasik, so I know he'll fit straight in with things."
