Thompson signs for Basingstoke

The Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce the signing of top British forward Shaun Thompson.

The superb capture for the Herd, will be a great boost for the club as they enter the final months of their English Premier League campaign.

The 22-year-old returns for a third spell in Basingstoke and last season was the Bison's top Brit in the Elite League scoring 17 times in a points tally of 40.

He then joined the Hull Stingrays from where he arrives back in Hampshire keen to once again to get amongst the goals for the Bison.

Thompson has played in the EPL before with Bracknell where in return impressive stats of 109 points from 104 games.

Basingstoke player/coach Moira was overjoyed to have signed another great player and said: "Upon hearing that Shaun Thompson may be leaving his club, I was eager to pursue him in an attempt to sign him for the Bison.

"Shaun is the type of player who will immediately strengthen our team. He contributes in a variety of ways, both defensively and offensively.

"His work rate and competitiveness are unquestioned. Shaun adds another dimension to the Bison team in our quest for success."

New signing Thompson said: "It's definitely great to be back in Basingstoke and to see the Bison fans again! It will be great to get back to winning ways and I'm hoping to help push the team towards winning a trophy this year!"

He is sure of a warm welcome on Saturday when he returns to the Basingstoke line-up as the Herd face the Sheffield Scimitars, with the action getting underway at 6.30pm.

Shaun's own and loan game day and Camouflage shirts are now available on 1st come 1st served basis and anyone interested in taking these should email their interest to bison.info@planet-ice.co.uk.
