Telford Tigers sealed a "fantastic" 3-1 victory in Peterborough with an empty net goal, bringing the first points of 2011 for the new-look team.
Continuing the fighting spirit shown against Manchester last Monday, Tigers travelled with a squad bolstered by new signing Nathan Salem and returning player-coach Tom Watkins.
Phantoms took the first period 1-0, but Telford looked much more effective than in their visit in December and Scott McKenzie equalised at 31:20, assisted by Luke Brittle.
Despite losing Joe Henry with a knee problem at the start of the third, Tigers went ahead through Daniel MacKriel at 50:28 and, after Peterborough called a time-out, McKenzie struck home the empty net goal for 3-1 at 58:56.
Afterwards Watkins said: "That was a fantastic win. With the changes to the squad we had to play a different system. All of the guys bought into it and played well, although I felt not quite to our full capability. But we were solid in all three zones tonight.
"It was good to have a look at Nathan and although we lost Joe going into the third, we had the depth to run out winners in the end.
"December was a tough month for us, with losing guys to GB, me getting suspended, then losing Marek. It feels good to bounce back with a solid win in Peterborough.
"If we are going to make the play-offs we need to pick up points wherever we can. The teams around us are picking up wins and we need to stay in the mix."
Goalie Declan Ryan took the man of the match award, conceding just one goal from 47 shots, and wiping away bad memories of the dismal 6-1 loss last time out in Peterborough.
"Declan played solid," said Watkins, "It was a great performance. But the defence in front of him played well too, not letting them have too many odd-man rushes. Credit to all the boys for this one, because the win was down to everyone."
Tigers have back-to-back games against Milton Keynes Lightning next weekend, with the home leg on Sunday (5.30pm).
