Francis Trudel

Player coach Ryan Finnerty has released Francis Trudel from the Steelers squad with immediate effect.

Trudel arrived in Sheffield just a month ago and played 14 games for the Steelers, however Finnerty signed a new D man in Nick Duff last week and following the return of Matt Stephenson to the Steelers side after injury Trudel now makes way.

"It's never a nice thing to do, releasing a player" said Finnerty "we though had the chance to sign Duff and he makes our team better. Then it's a numbers game and I felt that Trudel was the guy who would have to leave.

"He is a super fellow which of course makes it harder sometimes, however my job is to make this team the best it can be and do what ever i have to for the team to win. That's what I have done on this occasion nd it's what I will continue to do whilst I'm the boss here".

Steelers play just one game this weekend in Dundee on Sunday.
