Two big D men return to the fold

The Wightlink Raiders have signed two 6ft defencemen in preparation for the new ENL season. 29 year old Dominic Hopkins rejoins the Raiders for his third stint with the club. Since leaving at the end of 2007/2008 EPL season Hopkins has spent a season with Guildford Flames before being part of Bracknell's ENL play off winning team last year. Prior to that he has played Elite League and BNL with the likes of Basingstoke Bison, London Racers and Dundee Stars. Standing at 6'5 Dominic will bring experience and versatility to the squad.
Also returning is 22 year old fan's favourite Daniel Scott. Dan returned to the side last season and made an immediate impact before breaking his ankle against Bracknell in February, an injury which saw him miss the Raiders play off run. He is expecting to be fit for the start of the season in September. Despite his young age Dan has several years of Elite and EPL experience behind him as well as a stint in with French league team IC Epinal.
Player coach Jeremy Cornish is delighted with both signings.
"I think we're lucky to have two of the league's best d men on our team for this year. Dan's presence on the ice is well known and he is chomping at the bit to get fit for the new season. Dom Hopkins brings experience and that winning mentality again after winning the play offs with Bracknell. With Damon Larter and Niall Bound on board as well we already have a defence most teams would kill for. "
More announcements will be made later this week. Old rivals Romford Raiders were accepted into the ENL division 1 at a league meeting at the weekend and will join Bristol Pitbulls and Swindon ENL Wildcats as new teams in the league this year.
