Wall asks to leave Phantoms
Peterborough Phantoms are sorry to announce that netminder Stephen Wall has asked to be released from his contract for personal reasons.
Stephen broke the news to the club on Sunday and, after talking to the management team, agreed to take 24 hours to reconsider. However this evening he has asked for his release and the management team have reluctantly agreed.
Wall joined the Phantoms for the 2002/2003 season and, apart from one season away from the club, has been here ever since. As well as playing for the Phantoms, he has guested for the Newcastle Vipers (BNL), Manchester Phoenix (Elite League) and the Basingstoke Bison (Elite League).
Wall has pulled on the Phantoms jersey for over 320 games, securing him second place in the clubs most appearances table behind Shaun Yardley. The Phantoms are currently looking at a suitable way to honour both of these players for their commitment and playing career with the team.
This weekend will be Stephens last appearances for the club and Sunday promises to be an emotional night when Stephen makes his last appearance for the club against the Swindon Wildcats.
