We deserved more says Matsos
David Matsos felt that his Steelers side deserved more after their 4-2 loss in Newcastle saying that all the bounces and some strange refereeing decisions went again his team.
"In the past few weeks after a defeat I have torn into the guys and carved some of them, tonight I couldn't do that" said Matsos "I thought we played well, I thought we worked very, very hard but we didn't get a bounce all night.
"The Newcastle goals as a whole with fortunate, Tomo gets a stick in the face for one and the play isn't blown down despite it happening right in front of the referee. Shanker gets thrown out of the game minutes after the play had stopped because Willy shouts loudly at the linesman who then after all that time makes the call, a wrong call.
"Then they send the puck round the boards and it bounces of the stanchion right in front for an empty net, and it goes on and on. This was one of those occasions that we could have played until midnight and not won the game. At least Willy came and said as much to me as well after the game, I think he realised his team got the bounces tonight to win the game.
"So as I come back to Sheffield I am down, I feel for the boys, they deserved more, they deserved better as they worked harder and created more chances.
"I feel for Shanker because he didn’t deserve to get kicked out, it was a crazy call.
"We now have to concentrate on Europe next week and make sure we come back with confidence to win games and climb the table".
