Last night the Swindon Wildcats saw an end to their six game losing streak after disposing of the Basingstoke Bison on home ice with a score of 7-5. Although eventually winning the game, it did not start as predicted with the Bison initially scoring first after player/coach Steve Moria collected on a loose puck to score 5 hole past netminder Dean Skinns. Minutes on and the home side then found a reply as the in form Aaron Nell scored on a counter attack after Basingstoke striked the cross bar at the opposite end to set up a Swindon move.

The away side's Bronnimann would then find the net to close out the period and give the Bison the lead having collected on a close rebound effort.

The second period opened in great style for the home team as a powerplay situation led Swindon advancing on the Bison net and with a rebound sliding across the goal, it took a swing from the 'Cats' Shane Moore to tie the scores.

It would take just minutes for Swindon to then take the lead in the game as Nell would collect his second of the evening, finishing on a bombardment in front of the Basingstoke net.

A moment later and the home sides' Jonas Hoog would see his side double the lead after a mistake from Bison netminder Stephen Wall. Hesitating to clear the puck, the 'Cat import would take full advantage of the netminder and after stealing the puck, the Swede would slide it into what was an empty net for a fourth goal.

However Basingstoke soon replied through Kurt Reynolds as a quick shot off an offensive faceoff win caught out netminder Skinns and bought the scores to 4-3.

Closing out the period out, the Bison's Moria would then tie the score for his side as a 5 on 3 opportunity led to the Canadian tapping in a rebound from close range.

The third and final period gave what was a great twenty minutes of hockey for Swindon, as each and every player found their game to help contribute to a further three goals.

Just before the fifty minute mark Swindon's Hoog would score his second and a fifth for the Wildcats, before an Aaron Nell one timer would then create a sixth goal and a hat trick for the young British player.

In a three minute spell, 'Cat import Michal Pinc then finished yet another play as a follow on pass from Nicky Watt led to the Czech in on goal and a quick wrist shot would register a seventh for the home team.

Basingstoke would find a replying goal through Jacob Heron however with time against them, the game would wind to an end and give Swindon a well earned and much needed two point victory for the weekend. The 'Cats will now take this into their next fixture on Wednesday evening, which will see them at home once again as they take on the Slough Jets in a highly anticipated local derby.

Final Score: Swindon Wildcats 7 - 5 Basingstoke Bison
