The hockey season is back, and you can follow it all with us right here on BIH.
We are working on an archive of matches, stats and players from BIH in the past few years.
This weekend the Swindon Wildcats play host to last year's EPL league champions the MK Lightning in the most eagerly awaited game of the season, after the Wildcats unceremoniously dumped the Lightning out of the Play offs at the end of last season.
The two sides are quickly making history between each other and after an exciting couple of games at the end of last season, the rivalry is sure to be kept alive this Saturday. Looking back on last year and after being denied a Playoff Final spot, MK Lightning will be looking for redemption when they visit the Swindon ice. The Lightning will bring with them the in-form Lukas Zatopek as well as last year's top player Monir Kalgoum. Kalgoum was able to top both the goals and assists columns last season in the league and will no doubt be looking to continue his run of form.
Swindon come into the game off the back of two home wins in succession with one being that over 2nd in the league side the Manchester Phoenix. This win along with shutting out the Sheffield Steeldogs last weekend shows that the Wildcats seem to have found form on home ice, as they face MK this weekend who sit one place above them in the league. Scoring three goals a game on average leading up to this fixture shows scoring is not a problem for the 'Cats, so look for the defence to really back up their forwards as they take on last year's champions this weekend.
The Wildcats will also be saying farewell to Swindon Robins Speedway Legend who will be dropping the puck to start the game. Leigh and his family have been visitors to the Link on a number of occasions to cheer on Wildcats and he will be looking to say goodbye to the Ice Hockey fans ahead of his Farewell Meeting at the Abbey Stadium the following evening.
Face off for the game is at 5.45pm with ticket sales already looking good so be sure to grab yours from the Link Centre, on 01793 886857 or on www.swindonwildcats.com
