The Swindon Wildcats ice hockey club are delighted to announce the signing of much sought-after Welsh forward Steve Fisher to their English Premier Ice Hockey League roster for the 2010/11 season.
Fisher finished top of his team scoring and third overall in the league with his 2009/10 club, the Cardiff ENL Devils, where he was an instrumental part of the Welsh capital side's offensive line. Netting
31 goals and 49 assists in 29 league fixtures whilst accumulating 114 penalty minutes throughout the league campaign demonstrates an offensive eye with a degree of toughness to boot.
Measuring up at 5'11" and 180lbs, Fisher was nominated the ENL Devils'
"Star Man" at the midway point of the season. His form caught the eye of former Wildcat hero Steve Moria, who called Fisher up for an impressive cameo appearance for the EPIHL's Basingstoke Bison.
Wildcats Head Coach, Ryan Aldridge, saw off stiff competition from Basingstoke's Premier League team, Wightlink in the National League and, of course, Cardiff themselves to capture Fisher's signature.
"Steve will be a great addition to our line up", said Aldridge of his latest acquisition.
"He has just come off of a great year at National League 1 level where he was putting up some great numbers.
"He will add more firepower to our lineup and is another guy who can put the puck in the net.
"Fisher is another one of those guys that comes ready to do the hard work.
"I am very happy with the way that we are looking as a squad, particularly with Steve coming in, adding to what we already have".
